Emma, a First Class Honours graduate in Contemporary Art Practice, is thoroughly entranced by the creative process. Delving headfirst into each piece, examining how she develop her own mediums, Emma crafts her art from the roots.  With a strong commitment to sustainability, she appreciates the beauty in all that nature has to offer. Her compelling artistry spans from Drawing, Printmaking, and Slow Stitching, each piece individually crafted using contemporary techniques with organic materials. Together they reflect the essence of Scotland's nature and spirit.

Jenny's meticulous methods

Jenny's artistic practice is rooted in traditional printmaking techniques, a skill she is constantly relearing and evolving. Her work consists of linocuts, screenprinting and monoprinting. Printmaking is an art in it's self and therefore she experiments with how to push her techniques to the limit by reevaluaing her perspectives and changing her approaches to the each artistic process.

Beyond her prints, she also dedicates her talent to traditional bookbinding, creating and binding her own exquisite books covered with her hand-pulled prints. Each book is completely made from scratch as Jenny chooses everything from the paper, thread, binding and cover. Not only that but she takes the time to hand print her makers mark on every book, so you know how irreplaceable each piece is.

Emma's sustainable artistry

Emma employs a fascinating array of tools and techniques to create her unique materials. What makes Emma's work truly special is that every aspect of it is crafted by her own hands – not just the finished piece, but also the inks, paints and canvases. She meticulously uses Scottish flowers to produce her vibrant paints and inks, integrating traditional ink-making, weaving, and sewing techniques. This dedication to crafting each component by hand embodies her commitment to sustainability and her deep connection to the Scottish landscape.
