Step into an evening where art, music, and Scotlands vibrant social history intertwine in a celebration of creativity and tradition. Emerging artists and musicians are showcasing their Scottish inspired work, paying homage to the culture that inspires them.

Wander through the historic barn at Cormiston Farm where every detail is designed to celebrate Scotland's rich social history. Let the sound of live music guide you through the space, leading you to the bar for delicious food and Scottish-themed cocktails. An experience that blends art, music and heritage in the most inspiring way.

Showcasing Emerging Artists

Our Artists

Be among the first to witness the extraordinary talent of new and up-and-coming artists Jenny Mowat and Emma Milligan as they host the first ever Art After Dark event in Biggar! They will present their latest works inspired by Scottish heritage such as the famous Herring Girls of the Scottish coasts. Their works consist of Printmaking, Fibre Art, Dye Making, Book Binding and so much more.

This will not only be a night to remember but a unique and one of a kind event that Biggar has not seen before.

Educational Insights and Displays

Explore information boards and equipment demonstrations to understand the intricate processes behind the artworks. Gain a deeper appreciation for the craft and techniques that Emma and Jenny use to create their art. They will be showing a wide range of materials that they on a day-to-day basis and sharing the skills they have been learning over the past few years.

Learn about the social history of Scotland, such as the famous Herring Girls who were a vital part of Scotlands fishing industry. Just one example of what inspired these young artists to create works of art that have never been seen before.

Explore Entertainment at Art After Dark

Art After Dark promises an evening filled with captivating entertainment. Alongside our young artists you can discover live music from talented young musicians carefully selected to complement the artistic atmosphere. Charlotte Henry is an exceptional musician who started her journey in music at a young age, inspired by her dad, she has continued their love for music. For one night only she is coming to Biggar to show off her skills and musical talent. Patrick will also be joining us playing traditional Scottish music on the fiddle. Come to Art After Dark to support our young musicians on this new venture, and for the first time see them perform live as part of Biggar Little Festival.

Patrick Haynes

Patrick is a young and talented musician well on his way to becoming one of the best. Starting on the violin, and then progressing to the fiddle, Patrick has been very productive in the musical world. He has attended three summers at Tinto Music Camp, which further enhanced his love for traditional Scottish music on the fiddle. Patrick was also a participant in The Youth Programme at The Scots Fiddle Festival in 2025. Among playing with friends and in groups, Patrick also plays with the Carlops Orchestra and the Pentland Players, taking traditional Scottish music to daycare facilities for the elderly. It will be an honour to have Patrick playing with us at Art Aftre Dark, so don't miss this one off opportunity.

Charlotte Henry

Charlotte Henry is a Scottish singer-songwriter who first found real musical inspiration during the pandemic, listening to traditional musicians, for example, Siobhan Miller and Hamish Napier. She quickly became consumed by traditional music showcases, such as, Celtic Connections and the BBC's young Trad Musician of the year, thanks to her high school music teacher. Inspired by the poignant lyricism, intricate fingerpicking and heartfelt vocals that characterises trad music, Charlotte continues to craft her own sound based on these traditional routes.

Art After Dark is proudly hosted at Cormiston Farm, nestled in the rural landscape of Biggar. This unique venue provides the perfect backdrop for an evening celebrating Scottish history and social events. The Barn has seen many social celebrations and we are excited to blend its rustic charm with artistic elegance. Be it a specially made Scottish themed cocktail, a perfectly brewed beer or Cormiston Farm's famous mocktails, we insure there will be something for your taste pallet. Be it the finest whiskey, or Biggars very own gin, we will have it waiting for you at Art After Dark.
